Have you ever struggled with reaching out? --where you're going through life, you see people hanging out and having fun-- and you wonder what it would be like to be them? ---------------------------------------------------------------- If you're this person, it's like you're balancing on a ledge. On one side of the ledge, there's a set of stairs that take you to a dark basement where you occasionally find a hidden box with something interesting to add to your inventory. Perhaps it may not seem cozy to anyone else, but it is to you, because it's what you know and where you feel safe. On the other side of the ledge though, there's this drop off that has white clouds a few stories down. They seem so inviting and you crave to know what's beyond them. But, there's no ladder--no stairs to take you back up. To add to it, whatever awaits you at the bottom is unknown to you. When you go up the stairs, you sit on the ledge. You focus your senses to listen for sounds that would echo up to

I saw a small black presence clinging to the side of my finger. I remained frozen, thinking it a spider or insect. With fixed stare and ceased breath, I moved slowly to rid myself of the looming darkness. Though my fear felt eternal, the blackness faded within a moment. In place of black, a translucent drop of water gently embraced my skin. I gazed in wonder. 'Twas not a separate invasive darkness I feared, but merely my own judgement reflected in a small looking glass.
