Back to the fields, the bloody gallows

He held her close to his chest rocking her back and forth –his hand covering the bullet wound on her chest, right above her heart. Her blood is everywhere-his clothes, his face, his hands, but he doesn't care. His heart raced, feeling her heartbeat fluctuate dangerously. He knew she was dying. He couldn't save her. How could he let this happen?
